Sermon 30 October 2022 (Proper 26)

Zacchaeus had two keys…. by Fr. Dana

Simple Summary:  “Zacchaeus was a wee little man….” Well, maybe not wee, but he was short. He wanted to see who Jesus was, so he chose to go early and reserve a spot where he could see. Of all the multitudes Jesus saw that day He chose to honor Zacchaeus with His presence. But why Zacchaeus? What made him so special? It was because Zacchaeus had two keys…..

Lectionary: Isaiah 1:10-17; Psalm 119:137-144; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-13; Luke 19:1-10

Referenced Scriptures: 1 John 4:8; Genesis 1:26; 1 Peter 1:20; Jeremiah 1:5; Romans 8:27-30; Galatians 3:5-7

Jesus as He is, or as you want Him to be?

Sermon 16 October 2022 (Proper 24)

Jesus as He is, or as you want Him to be? by Fr. Dana

Simple Summary:  God offered of Himself to Jacob, and Jacob held on to Him even when it became difficult for him. Paul instructs Timothy to hold on to the truth, to preach it and teach it whether people receive it or not. We, too, are responsible for learning the truth as Jesus delivered it, and avoid teachers who tell us what our itching ears want to hear. As we are faithful in both learning and teaching the truth, we prepare the way for the Son of Man, when He returns, to find faith on the earth.

Lectionary: Genesis 32:22-31; Psalm 121:1-8; 2 Timothy 3:14-4:5; Luke 18:1-8

Referenced Scriptures: Psalm 119:33-40; 2 Peter 1:19-21; 1 Corinthians 3:11-15; Matthew 24:24; 1 Corinthians 10:6-12; Matthew 5:3; Matthew 19:23

Sermon 09 October 2022 (Proper 23)

No Questions Asked by Dcn. Joshua Bautista, Paris, France

Simple Summary:  There are times when God points rain in our direction, and other times when God points us in the direction of the bath. We need to be sensitive to our Guide, the Holy Spirit: He knows when it’s time to “Be still” and when it’s time to “Go”.

Lectionary: 2 Kings 5:8-15; Psalm 111; 2 Timothy 2:8-15; Luke 17:11-19

It’s not about you … or me

Sermon 02 October 2022 (Proper 22)

It’s not about you … or me by Fr. Dana

Simple Summary:  “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.” We love to quote these verses, and rightly so. God’s prophetic Word, God’s vision, will come true. Write it down so you don’t forget it; write it down so it may be communicated accurately to all His people. The question is: whose revelation did you write down? Whose revelation are you running with? Is it His … or is it yours?

Lectionary: Habakkuk 1:12-2:4; Psalm 37:1-18; 2 Timothy 1:1-10; Luke 17:5-10

Referenced Scriptures: Psalm 75:6-7; Matthew 5:5; Luke 17:3-4; Hebrews 11:6; Romans 8:28
