Sermon 22 April 2018  (Easter 4)

Jesus leads, we follow; He lays down His life, we … ? by Fr. Dana

Simple Summary:  Jesus leads us along the right paths. Sometimes the right path is through a dark valley. Jesus laid down His life, and calls us to do the same; will we follow? Only if the love of God is in us; only if we truly love, truly care, truly obey. Love makes a person brave. With authority comes responsibility.

Lectionary: Acts 4:5-12; Psalm 23:1-6; 1 John 3:16-24; John 10:11-18

Referenced Scriptures:  Matthew 26:39; John 15:13; Acts 4:19-20; Luke 12:11-12

Sermon 15 April 2018  (Easter 3)

God is calling; will you answer? by Fr. Dana

Simple Summary:  Moses was given a mission, and he kept doing what he had always done until God gave him counsel through Jethro:  teach the people the way to walk and the work they should do, then select from them faithful captains to administer the ministry.  Having the right foundation is critical.  Our foundation is not a philosophy nor a set of rules but is a person: Jesus Christ, the living Word of God.  We build on the foundation by knowing and obeying the Word of God.

Lectionary: Acts 3:12-19; Psalm 4; 1 John 3:1-5; Luke 24:36b-48  (sermon not from lectionary)

Referenced Scriptures:  Exodus 18:13-26; 1 Corinthians 3:9–11; John 14:15; 1 Corinthians 1:27-29

One in heart and mind

Sermon 08 April 2018  (Easter 2)

One in heart and mind by Fr. Dana

Simple Summary:  All the believers were one in heart and mind.  Unity is a blessing that starts at the head but flows down to touch everyone.  If our fellowship with one another is broken, our fellowship with the Trinity is also broken.  Confession is the pathway to healing.

Lectionary: Acts 4:32-35; Psalm 133; 1 John 1:1-2:2; John 20:19-31

Referenced Scriptures:  No additional Scriptures
